With the beginning of the Horns Rev 1 offshore wind project in 2002, the business has also enabled a large supplier industry to offshore wind in Esbjerg.

As the world’s leading preassembly and installation port, the Esbjerg industry has assisted in bringing more than 20 GW of wind offshore installations to the countries around the North Sea.

The industry covers project development, preassembly and installation, operation & maintenance, manpower suppliers, training course facilities, and support industry.

Today, more than 200 companies are doing business in offshore wind, oil, and gas. That is a testament to the willingness and the determination to transform and adapt to new business.

ESBJERG DECLARATION SETS A NEW BENCHMARK

On May 18th, European Government leaders, Energy Commissioners and the President of the European Commission signed the Esbjerg Declaration, setting a clear green direction for Europe.

With the signing of the Esbjerg Declaration in Esbjerg on the 18th of May 2022, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Belgium, and European Union are committed to changing the future European energy supply. With 65 GW of offshore wind by 2030 and 150 GW by 2050, the North Sea will be a power hub for creating green energy for Europe. With its vast experience and ambitious expansion plans, Port Esbjerg will be one of the crucial hubs for delivering on the declaration goals.
