Being offshore for a shorter or longer period at a time takes a certain mindset and lifestyle.

Are you ready for a career in offshore?

Below we have made a list of things you need to be able to comply with and think about before aiming for a career in offshore.

If you can live up to these requirements, a career in offshore could be something for you!

Safety is of the utmost importance in the offshore industry. You must always act according to safety procedures, and you must be fully certified and take the necessary safety training.

There is a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to consuming alcohol and drugs.

You need to be in good physical and mental health (this also means being aware of potential phobias that could affect your job).

You need an unblemished criminal record to be able to work offshore.

When working in such a closed environment, you should be able to work independently but also have strong cooperative skills.

When offshore, you work many hours a day and often even at night.

You will get to work with many different nationalities, so you need good language skills (primarily English) and also cultural awareness.

It is essential that the whole family is supportive and understands that you will be away from home in the offshore period.

The transportation time to your destination can be long depending on your place of work.

When you are back home, you must expect to spend time on recertification and other supplementary training.

Three weeks of vacation ten times a year is brilliant. Freedom is a big advantage when working offshore.
