Church music

Culture, music and history

The church music programme prepares our students for a professional life as church organ players and/or performing artists. At the same time, the students gain a wide knowledge of choir conducting. Besides major subjects such as liturgical organ playing, repertoire, choir conducting and theory, subjects such as organology, music communication, music pedagogy and ear training also form part of the church music programme.

In addition, teaching in piano and harpsichord is offered. The concert hall in Esbjerg features a giant Marcussen concert organ with 44 voices. The organ serves as a natural pivotal point for the daily tuition, examinations, tests as well as concerts and master classes. Furthermore, the academy has been appointed by the Danish Ministry of Culture to secure and strengthen the field of church music at a national level.
