In addition to the city’s music venues, Esbjerg’s bars and nightclubs often present unplugged concerts with both burgeoning talents and well-known artists.

Tobakken is, indeed, known for its ability to scout for great new names and for giving them a chance to get their music across on the stage. The venue is located in an old tobacco factory with a unique atmosphere.

Recommend to students on a tight budget by Studiebyen Esbjerg, Huset Esbjerg offers you great entertainment for less. Huset Esbjerg organises concerts with new and upcoming bands for free or a small entrance fee. Keep an eye on their website for updates and new events. Huset Esbjerg is also home to an art cinema, where you can watch indie and quirkier, more artistic films than the usual Hollywood blockbusters.

Syddansk Musikkonservatorium (SDMK) is located in a former power station in the street of Kirkegade, where the historic buildings annually house about 130 events within classical, rhythmic, folk, electronic, and church music in addition to speeches, guided tours, and other cultural activities.

Rhythmic concerts are mostly held in the Academy’s cosy Café Ørsted, while classical concerts often take place in the former turbine hall, which is now converted into one of Denmark’s most beautiful concert halls. The hall is recognised among the best in Europe for chamber music due to its unique acoustics.
