The government has designated Esbjerg as the home for one of Denmark's upcoming state industrial parks. The designation marks an important step in the green transition and strengthens Esbjerg's role as a center for green energy and production
Minister of Business Morten Bødskov, Minister of City, Housing and Church Morten Dahlin, and Minister of Climate, Energy and Supply Lars Aagaard have just announced that Esbjerg Municipality will be one of 11 municipalities to host a state industrial park. The purpose is to make it easier and faster for manufacturing companies to establish themselves and to create new frameworks for industry with national growth potentials.
The new industrial park will be located at Korskro Vest, where Esbjerg Municipality has for several years been working purposefully to create an attractive, developed, and strategically located business area. Korskro Vest covers 165 hectares with the possibility of expansion to 230 hectares and is ideally situated by the E20, close to Esbjerg Airport and just eight kilometers from Esbjerg Harbor, which is one of Northern Europe's most important shipping ports for wind turbines.
The area lies directly on the national special transport route and near both existing and upcoming electricity and hydrogen infrastructure, which gives companies within wind, energy, hydrogen, and PtX a significant logistical advantage.
"This is very good news for Denmark and for our municipality. The government's decision confirms Esbjerg's strong position and our long-term efforts to create space for green production. We are ready to take on the task. The first plots are expected to be put up for sale by the end of the year, and there is already dialogue with interested companies," says Mayor Jesper Frost Rasmussen.
Ready for growth
Unlike other potential industrial park areas, the business area at Korskro Vest is already ready for implementation. The preliminary work has been completed, the local planning is in place, and the municipality has acquired the necessary land. This means that the time from designation as an industrial park to the actual establishment of companies can be significantly minimized.
"The designation of Korskro Vest is a strong invitation to potential investors. Here, companies gain access to the best logistical connections, solid infrastructure, and a municipality that has done the groundwork. It is precisely this combination that creates growth and new jobs," says Karsten Rieder, director of Business Esbjerg.

Collaboration across sectors
When a company wishes to purchase land and establish itself, Esbjerg Municipality sets up a task force with relevant employees from both Business Esbjerg, DIN Supply, and the municipality. This model provides companies with an efficient and smooth process.
Companies that meet certain criteria will also be covered by the state's "red carpet for manufacturing companies" when they establish themselves in the upcoming industrial park. The scheme is managed by the Danish Business Authority in collaboration with the municipality and other state authorities. With this scheme, the Danish Business Authority coordinates cooperation across state authorities and the municipality within a set case processing limit, depending on the company's project.
The designation of Korskro Vest is clear evidence of what can be achieved when municipality, state, and business community work purposefully together to create speed, predictability, and clear frameworks for modern industry in Denmark.
