XL Byg in Bramming distinguishes itself from many other hardware stores by having a professional department, a private department – and also an industrial division. The latter has, among other things, specialized in offering film-coated birch veneer panels for the auto and camper industry and for foundries & concrete element factories. Each of the three divisions accounts for about one-third of the turnover.
The renovation has been ongoing for several months now, but the opening day is approaching. The new exhibition is basically already open to customers, but officially the opening reception will first take place on March 28.
"We are looking forward to it," says Dennis Nielsen, who is director of XL Byg Bramming. Dennis has been part of the team since 2011. In 2014, they took the first steps in a generational change in the company. Together with Tommy Skov Kristensen and Werner Nielsen, he was one of the driving forces that set the expansion of the company in motion.
The hardware store has undergone a great development over the past 10 years but has reached a limit in terms of space. Therefore, XL Byg Bramming is now expanding with a focus on providing customers with an even better experience. The goal is to create an environment where both professional and private customers can find everything they need – all gathered in one place.
"We spice this up by offering our customers extraordinary personal service. Our staff must know a great deal about most things, as we say. And thereby help customers make the right choices."
The professional department mainly attracts local crafts companies and industrial companies. It is important to be super competitive locally in both assortment and prices so that customers do not need to go elsewhere. "We achieve this by closely monitoring the market and then acting quickly and flexibly," says Dennis Nielsen, who is director of XL Byg Bramming. "We spice this up by offering our customers extraordinary personal service. Our staff must know a great deal about most things, as we say. And thereby help customers make the right choices."
One of the new focus areas is workwear, where the assortment has been greatly expanded. The aim is to make it easy and simple for customers to shop for their employees.
"It is important to us that the funds return to the local area."
Another focus area is a newly established building exhibition, which presents a wide selection of building materials – both for indoor and outdoor use – all gathered in one place. This inspires customers. This exhibition also serves as a link between the professional and private departments.
To further improve dialogue with all customers, XL Byg Bramming has now integrated the timber office in the same building. This improves the possibility of offering personal service and being close to all customer groups.
Unlike many other players in the industry, XL Byg Bramming is privately owned. This means the company can act more flexibly and quickly adapt to the needs of local customers. At the same time, XL Byg Bramming makes a point of supporting many local activities. Director Dennis Nielsen states: "It is important to us that the funds return to the local area."
