A modern agency in rapid development
Danish Safety Technology Authority
The Danish Safety Technology Authority works to make safety as uncomplicated as possible.

As part of the Ministry of Industry, the Danish Safety Technology Authority is responsible for technical safety in Denmark. Since moving to Esbjerg in 2004, we have undergone enormous development. Today, we are about 160 employees gathered under one roof at Esbjerg Brygge with a view of the sea, Fanø, the marina, and the locally known White Men.
At the Danish Safety Technology Authority, we work every single day to make safety as uncomplicated as possible. We do this, among other things, through supervision and market surveillance tasks within a wide range of areas, including electricity, gas, tattoo artists, tobacco, fireworks, and a wide range of various products.
Development and Competencies
We are organized into two interconnected units: the Center for Market Surveillance and the Center for Strategy, Digitization, and Operations. A particular characteristic of the agency is that, considering our size, we encompass many different professional groups: lawyers, economists, engineers, electricians, marine engineers, administrative staff, IT professionals, and many more. Our culture is full of professionalism, community, and high ambitions, and we always help each other reach our goals.
At the Danish Safety Technology Authority, we are passionate about digital transformation and all the potentials it brings. In the digital transformation, we unite our diverse backgrounds because together we have developed great interest and curiosity for digital solutions. One of our major digital initiatives is the development of a tool for market surveillance of e-commerce, based on artificial intelligence, image recognition, and machine learning. The tool detects dangerous products for sale online, so we can stop the sales and thereby help consumers achieve greater product safety in Denmark.
At the beginning of 2020, we inaugurated our new headquarters at Esbjerg Brygge. We aim for our working methods to support the digital transformation and create better conditions for developing an exploratory and agile mindset. Therefore, we have arranged activity-based rooms where one chooses the workplace based on the type of task to be solved. This has given us, among other things, home zones, project zones, creative zones, and quiet zones.
Welcome to a modern, service-oriented, and digital authority!
