Many Nordic companies demand temporary labor but are challenged by complex rules and guidelines. Northern Partners handles and advises on the unclear elements such as registration, work permits, and taxation.
The legal aspects of project employment are continuously changing and the requirements are more stringent than ever before – despite companies lacking labor. In the square in Esbjerg lies a branch of Northern Partners, which makes it simpler for local companies and their subcontractors to get labor for temporary tasks.
Northern Partners does not recruit labor themselves but services the local companies and ensures that their international project workers experience a streamlined and smooth process.
"We have chosen to open a branch here in Esbjerg due to strong demand from the local companies, both onshore and offshore. We manage a lot of labor in our own name but also offer our help as a third party. We are also well versed in the rules for collective agreements and local agreements," says Louise Drachmann, Daily Manager at Northern Partners.
International labor comes to the Nordics to deliver services – not to familiarize themselves with local labor legislation. Northern Partners therefore takes care of that part so that the workers can fully focus on delivering their services.
"We base ourselves on a digital approach, centered around applicable legislation and guidelines for the Nordics. We have developed a GDPR-compliant portal, which enables us to securely and efficiently handle international labor in a smooth way. Even though we are digital, we focus on attentive and personal customer service," explains Narmin Osmajlic, Client Supporter at Northern Partners.
Packed with administrative stones, Northern Partners builds the bridge that companies and subcontractors benefit from when they bring in labor across borders. But there are many legal aspects that must fall into place before a Nordic company can use a NON-EU worker on a project; including, among other things, a work and residence permit.
"We have developed a GDPR-compliant portal, which enables us to securely and efficiently handle international labor in a smooth way."
"If you are a NON-EU citizen, it requires that you have a valid work and residence permit before you can start working in, for example, Denmark. We do a lot of fast-track applications, as local companies recruit various nationalities with a desire for a quick job start," says Renata Spadoni, who advises on Danish working conditions.
"We are very open to helping our customers, but when it comes to compliance and legal setups, we might become a bit strict," laughs Matilda Andersson, while explaining the legal elements that are particularly important in project employment.
"In Denmark, we have offices in Esbjerg and Copenhagen. But we also have our own offices and staff in Sweden, Norway, and Finland. We expect a continued increase in international labor in the Nordic countries, and we can clearly see that more people are choosing a working life as project employees," concludes Jens Ingvartsen, consultant at Northern Partners.
