Claire Gillian McCullagh has worked in dermatology since 2019, and she chose to start DermaSkan ApS to be able to give her customers more time, greater thoroughness, and security.

"For me, it is about each individual feeling seen and understood, and that any skin changes are detected early," Claire explains.

Scanning with focus on early detection

At DermaSkan, each session starts with a short conversation where Claire ensures security and collects relevant health information before the scanning begins. The scanning focuses on early detection of skin changes, with special emphasis on moles, so the customer can notice changes before they develop.

The scanning is performed with an advanced scanner from Canfield, which uses artificial intelligence to analyze the skin. Already at the first scan, moles, wounds, sun damage, and potential signs of skin cancer are registered. All suspicious moles are photographed in close-up and analyzed with very high precision, so even small changes can be detected. At follow-up scans, the development of individual moles can be closely monitored – including changes that cannot be seen with the naked eye.

If something looks suspicious, Claire recommends that the customer contacts their own doctor. The customer receives images and a thorough description in e-Boks, ready to be brought to further examination. Claire does not make diagnoses or treat – her focus is assessment and follow-up.

Accessibility for everyone

DermaSkan primarily targets private individuals between 18 and 65 years old. Booking requires no referral, and the price is set so that as many as possible can gain access.

"Melanoma affects all social classes. It should not be the economy that determines whether you get your skin checked," says Claire.

The clinic opened in February with a full calendar and already has a waiting list. During the startup period, an introductory price is offered, and in the long term, there will be opportunities for corporate agreements.
