Offshore Oil & Gas
Energy and data
Esbjerg has an extensive supply chain for the offshore oil and gas industry.

Since the 1970s, Esbjerg has developed an extensive supply chain for the upstream offshore oil and gas industry. Esbjerg serves as a service provider port for the Danish oil and gas sector, with 19 oil and gas installations in the Danish North Sea.
Knowledge and skills within engineering, production, operation & maintenance, and component suppliers help the offshore oil and gas industry keep up production and secure a safe environment for this complex industry.
In Esbjerg, there is a large network of suppliers servicing the oil and gas industry, as well as safety training facilities, mechanical engineering educations, university and AMU schools, which train employees at all levels for the oil, gas, and offshore industry.
A new future for oil and gas?
As oil and gas production in the Danish part of the North Sea gradually declines, possibilities for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) are being investigated and tested. Two pilot projects, which Project Greensand and Bifrost are conducting, will determine whether CCS is sustainable in the old reservoirs in the North Sea.
Successful implementation of CCS can open new opportunities for the oil and gas industry in Esbjerg and Denmark and help ensure reduction of CO₂ emissions in Europe.
