The Danish Embassy in South Africa, in collaboration with Esbjerg port and Business Esbjerg, host a workshop on the Transnet Properties, aiming to specify the potential for Danish companies.

The Embassy of Denmark would like to invite you to attend a business opportunity workshop in energy efficiency and water efficiency in port infrastructure in South Africa. The Embassy are establishing a strategic alliance of Danish companies to work on at least 20 property precincts as part of a pilot project to showcase Danish technology. The workshop will focus on clean energy production, energy efficiency, water efficiency and waste management. The first site to implement Danish technologies would be the old Durban International Airport covering 590 hectares including buildings.

This old airport, now named the Durban Logistics Hub is used as an overflow area of the Port of Durban, which is the biggest port in Africa. The Port of Durban has challenges with logistics and poor operation and utilities efficiency creating an opportunity for Danish expertise within Water Management, Energy Management, Metering, Logistics, Drone Technology, Industrial Security, Auditing and Resource efficiency.

Transnet Properties owns approximately 49-thousand buildings in South Africa including ports, logistics hubs, railroads, offices, retail commercial space and office space buildings across South Africa. Transnet Properties has political backing both locally and nationally for this change.

On Thursday 9 September, the Danish Embassy in South Africa, in collaboration with Port of Esbjerg and Business Esbjerg, host a workshop on the Transnet Properties, which owns 8 of the major ports in the country and plan to specify the potential for Danish companies.

The Embassy would like to offer an invitation to the province Kwa-Zulu Natal on an official visit by Ambassador Tobias Rehfeld between 1 and 3 November 2021 and we will elaborate on further during the workshop.

The Embassy is looking forward to your participation at the workshop. Please see the tentative programme below.
